Allows for an accurate ratio of Absinthe to water. The glass is high quality, and thick enough to be a sturdy glass. The only thing I don't like is after the water is poured over the sugar, and you try to mix the sugar with the cold water, the sugar has a tendency to sink into the bulb and not mix well. I have to stir it a lot to get the sugar mixed well. So that's a design issue. But the piece is well made. By Fredrik in Sweden the 30/09/2011
