Absinthe Fountains

An absinthe fountain is the most convenient - and also the most dramatic way to prepare one or more glasses of absinthe at the same time. Each fountain holds a reservoir of iced water, which drips into the glasses below, through individually adjustable spigots. This ensures a perfectly controllable slow and steady stream of water into each glass, far easy to adjust than when pouring from a carafe.

Our fountains are generally replicas of Belle Epoque originals, and, aside from their immense practicality are stunningly decorative objects that will enhance any home or bar counter.

A fountain is the ultimate absinthe accoutrement - it makes preparing a perfectly mixed absinthe absolutely straightforward, and even allows you to prepare several glasses at once perfect for parties, or just for amazing your friends!

Original fountains are rare and fragile, and very expensive, selling for upwards of $5000. Even those in good condition are seldom entirely waterproof, and the taps are often clogged with limestone deposits built up over the decades.

Many replicas are equally unsatisfactory, being unstable, excessively fragile and hopelessly inauthentic. Our replicas are faithful copies of the originals, are entirely made from stainless steel and heavy gauge glass (no plastic parts!) and are precision engineered to give years of trouble-free use. Amazingly though, they are less expensive than several obviously inferior models.

We recommend these fountains without reservation. Every serious absintheur should have one.

Postcards or photos showing "real-life" scenes of absinthe drinking are extremely rare. This 1893 postcard, showing a group of country folk relaxing over their absinthes at the end of hard day's fishing, is the only known contemporary photo of an absinthe fountain in use.
